We know, We know, we all hate it when people phone during supper to ask for money. However, NaNoWriMo is run by a not-for-profit group and requires donations to function. Please consider giving back to NaNo however you can in order to keep the servers serving.
You can donate in one or all of the following ways:
1 Donate money online. A minimum $10 donation gets you a gold halo next to your username on the forums (and possibly other awesome swag). Who doesn’t want to masquerade as an angel for a month?
2 Buy something from the store. Not only will you have contributed, but you have a little something to show for it.
3 As usual, Mr Piggy will be at all our in person events. Mr Piggy is very hungry and demands to be fed your small change regularly. Of course, we cannot insist that you feed him, but whatever Mr Piggy does collect is all totalled and donated to OLL at the end of the month. This is a great way to make a small donation if you can’t afford to make a big one. And it does add up – last year he ate 700!
4 Ask your friends/family/coworkers/employer for donations. Many companies match money donated by their employees. Hey – it can’t hurt to ask, right?
5 Totally broke? Check out this page for some ideas.
6 Donate any crafty/artistic/fun items that you might have that would make a good prize at TGIO (talk to an ML or go here for some ideas). Sure, the money won’t go to funding NaNo, but it’ll sure make our local events a lot more fun. And fun is what it’s all about, right?
And if you really can’t donate money or items at all, we completely understand. We thank you for your donation of smiles, encouragement, and support to the community, which are not only priceless, but are the real money on which NaNo runs (although the website is really nice too).
